Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu — better known online as the “10-billion-won building owner” — has revealed that even he felt the pinch of a car repair quote: 7,379,161 won including tax, or roughly 7.38 million won.
According to Sports Seoul, Jang posted a photo of the official service center’s estimate on his SNS on the 8th and asked his followers for advice on whether an independent shop could cut the bill. He tagged the post with “car-poor life” and “seeking advice.”
The quote listed replacements for the water pump, thermostat, pressure sensor, and changeover valve. Parts alone came to about 3.7 million won, labor about 3 million, and VAT pushed the total past the 7 million won mark.
In his post, as quoted by the report, Jang wrote: “The repair cost at the official center is a bit of a burden — I wonder how much it would be if I got it fixed at a private shop?” His unusually candid breakdown laid bare a very relatable dilemma.
Jang is a former JTBC announcer who went freelance in 2019 and now works across variety, radio, and YouTube. He bought a building in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, in 2021 for 6.5 billion won; later reports valued it above 10 billion won — a market estimate, not a confirmed sale price.
Lately Jang has been sharing honest slices of everyday life on SNS, and this time he let fans in on the math. There is no word yet on which shop gets the job.
