CNBLUE Announces Special Single 'Running' for November 9 in Yoon Sang Remake

CNBLUE Announces Special Single 'Running' for November 9 in Yoon Sang Remake cover

CNBLUE will release a special single titled ‘Running’ on November 9, the band’s agency FNC Entertainment announced, offering the group’s own reinterpretation of singer-songwriter Yoon Sang’s signature song of the same name.

FNC Entertainment unveiled the news on November 6 through the band’s official social media channels, sharing a teaser poster for the new release. The single will be released at 6 p.m. KST on November 9 through various online music platforms, according to reports from Korean media outlets including Herald Muse and E Daily.

The teaser poster puts the single’s theme front and center. It features a running track glowing in vivid blue, a visual that matches both the song’s title and the band’s identity. CNBLUE plans to reinterpret Yoon Sang’s ‘Running’ through the group’s distinctive band sound, keeping the hopeful message of the original while giving it the energy of a three-piece rock band.

According to FNC Entertainment, the remake carries the original song’s message of hope and turns it into something more powerful: a song of courage and encouragement. The agency framed the release as CNBLUE delivering comfort and support to listeners, a theme that has run through much of the band’s recent work.

The timing of the release is no coincidence. The single’s message connects directly to CNBLUE’s next solo concert, the 2027 CNBLUE LIVE show scheduled for February 20 and 21, 2027, at Seoul’s KSPO DOME. As KpopFizz previously reported, those dates will mark the band’s first-ever performances at the KSPO DOME, a milestone the group announced during the Busan encore of its 2026 ‘3LOGY’ tour. The concert’s running theme and the single’s title share the same idea: keep moving forward.

CNBLUE’s 2026 has been built around the road. The band’s world tour has taken it to 20 cities around the globe this year, and the run is set to conclude with an encore performance in Macau this November. The special single arrives in the middle of that closing stretch, giving fans new music to carry into the final shows of the year and the February dome concerts that follow.

For CNBLUE, a remake single is a deliberate choice. The band, made up of Jung Yong Hwa, Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jung Shin, has built its career on self-written rock, from its early hits through its recent albums. Taking on another artist’s song is a rarer move, and choosing Yoon Sang’s ‘Running’ puts the focus on the song itself rather than on a new composition. Yoon Sang is one of Korean pop’s most enduring singer-songwriters, and ‘Running’ remains one of the best-known songs in his catalog, a track whose lyrics about pressing on have kept it in rotation for years.

The remake also fits a pattern in CNBLUE’s recent output. The band has leaned into its identity as a live rock act, with the ‘3LOGY’ tour and the upcoming KSPO DOME dates emphasizing performance over production. A single built around a running track and a message of perseverance reads as a bridge between the tour that is ending and the dome concerts that are coming, a piece of new music that points directly at the next stage.

No tracklist beyond the single itself has been announced, and FNC Entertainment has not said whether a music video will accompany the release. For now, the confirmed details are the date, the song and the concept: November 9 at 6 p.m. KST, Yoon Sang’s ‘Running’ rebuilt in CNBLUE’s sound, with a blue running track as its calling card.

Fans will not have to wait long to hear it. The single drops on November 9, and the band’s Macau encore follows later in the month, with the KSPO DOME concerts waiting in February.
