Former EVERGLOW member Eunji, better known as Mia, has revealed the real reason she stepped away from idol life — health, not burnout or money.
According to a discussion of her Instagram channel message on r/kpop, Eunji said she did not stop because she was tired of not getting paid, or because of the harsh comments thrown at her. Instead, her body was under so much pressure and stress that continuing became impossible. The issues included hearing loss, according to the post.
She also gave fans something to look forward to: a comeback within a year. But she drew two clear lines — no Girls Planet 2, and no rejoining EVERGLOW.
Fans in the thread welcomed the news. One wrote, “i’m so glad she’s feeling better and up to being active again, she’s such an amazing idol and will crush whatever she chooses to do next.” Another admitted they never expected her to return, writing that given “how yuehua treated her.. especially the haircut incident,” they assumed she was done with idol life — and welcomed that she was not badly affected mentally, even if the physical toll was no surprise.
Eunji’s comments follow EVERGLOW’s split from Yuehua Entertainment, after which the members’ individual paths have stayed largely unclear — and mark one of her most direct statements on what happened.
For now, fans are hoping her recovery stays on track — and waiting to see what her return looks like.
