Former Jewelry member Seo In Young has once again addressed the long-running rumor that she assaulted IU in a bathroom — and she sounded exhausted by it.
The comments came in an October 7 YouTube video in which Seo In Young visited Baek Ji Young’s house. The two singers, once at odds, had announced their reconciliation.
During the conversation, Seo In Young said, “There’s a rumor that I hit IU. Why on earth would I hit her? There’s even a rumor that I took her to the bathroom and hit her. We weren’t even close,” expressing her frustration. Baek Ji Young joked, “Since you weren’t close, that’s why you hit her,” drawing laughter.
Baek Ji Young also apologized for a dressing room incident from their past. She said she and LYn were sharing a dressing room when Seo In Young came to visit LYn, and she told her, “You’re too noisy, Seo In Young, be quiet” — admitting she was wrong, and adding Seo In Young was “very delicate, kind, and easygoing,” though they never had a proper conversation back then.
The rumor dates back to the pair’s 2010 appearance together on SBS’s Heroes. IU herself denied it in 2011 on MBC’s Radio Star: “I was never dragged to the bathroom or hit.” Seo In Young also denied it in 2013 on MBC’s The Knee-Drop Guru.
It is her most public revisiting of the topic in years — and she made her position as clear as ever.
