Broadcaster Kim Na-young is now officially a family of five. She, her husband My Q, and their two sons have welcomed a rescue dog named Topangga into their home — a dog that once had no name at all.

In a video released October 11 on her YouTube channel “Kim Nayoung’s No Filter TV,” titled “Na-young’s family is now five! Love Topangga,” Kim explained that her sons Shinwoo and Lee Joon had wanted a dog for years, but the family had never been able to commit. My Q had been firmly opposed, certain that all the care would fall on him.

Then, unexpectedly, My Q sent Kim Na-young a photo of a dog on his own. The puppy had been rescued from an animal hoarder’s home and was staying at a shelter in Seongnam, where it was nameless and known only as “No. 430.” My Q said what changed his mind was the boys’ attitude: they didn’t approach the dog “like a toy,” but as “a precious life, a younger sibling, an animal to protect.”

Kim admitted she felt both excitement and worry at the prospect of another family member. “If I were alone, I wouldn’t have dared,” she said. “But now I have My Q and the kids. The thought that we’re together gives me a bit of courage.”

The family visited the shelter to meet the dog, and Kim was smitten. After returning from a London business trip, she broke the news to her sons with a photo — and they couldn’t hide their joy.

The name Topangga comes from a California town the family once visited; Shinwoo had decided long ago that it would be his future dog’s name. “Dad, thank you,” he told My Q, adding, “I wonder if there’s anyone in the world as happy as I am right now.”

Kim closed the video with a promise to fans: “Please look forward to the story of our family unfolding from four to five.”
