Twice's Tzuyu Calls Herself a "Cute, Attractive" Speed Driver Ahead of Atlassian Williams F1 x Dan Da Dan Theme Song cover

Twice’s Tzuyu has the perfect three-word self-description as a driver: cute, attractive, and all about speed.

Speaking to The Straits Times on October 9 at Frasers House hotel in Singapore, the usually soft-spoken star paused to think before answering in English. “Maybe cute, attractive…” she said, before landing on her final choice: “Speed.” The 27-year-old laughed, then added: “I’m a good ‘speed’ driver.”

The Taiwanese singer is in town for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2026, held at Marina Bay Street Circuit from October 9 to 11. She is recording a solo song and music video as the official theme for a collaboration between the Atlassian Williams F1 Team and Japanese anime series Dan Da Dan.

The track and accompanying music video are due in early 2027, ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix in April. The project brings together Williams’ speed with the supernatural world of Dan Da Dan under the concept “speed meets the supernatural”. First launched at the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix, the tie-up has already spawned merchandise, fan platform Sector Zero, and an appearance at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

“What I find interesting about this collaboration is that F1, K-pop and anime seem to come from very different worlds, but they share something in common,” Tzuyu said. “What connects us are ambition, passion and courage.”

Visiting the Williams paddock changed her own perception of the sport. She had previously associated F1 mainly with highly skilled drivers and speed, but seeing the people working behind the scenes gave her a new appreciation for the teamwork involved. “I realised that they really need the power of teamwork to bring everything together,” she said. “I think that’s very impressive.”

Tzuyu, who debuted with Twice in 2015 after the nine-member act was formed through the reality survival show Sixteen, said solo work still makes her nervous. “When I’m solo, I have to face everything by myself, so sometimes I get very nervous,” she said. The singer, who made her solo debut with the EP abouTZU in 2024, admitted her calm demeanor doesn’t carry over behind the wheel: “I think I may seem like I have quite a laid-back personality, but I don’t drive slowly.”

Asked which of her eight Twice bandmates she would want beside her in a haunted house, Tzuyu settled on Mina. “Because I would be very scared too,” she said with a laugh. “Mina would probably be a little calmer, so she wouldn’t let me feel so nervous or afraid.”

No further details of the theme song have been released, but the music video is expected to drop ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix in April 2027.
