2NE1’s Minzy has released the official lyric video for the English version of her single ‘Calling,’ giving international fans a new way into the track.
The lyric video was shared on YouTube and picked up by r/kpop, arriving about a week after the single’s official release on September 28. The three-track single dropped at 6 p.m. KST across music platforms alongside the original music video.
‘Calling’ is a soulful R&B song layered with a full choir, built around the process of facing a self that had been lost in darkness and getting back up by following an inner calling. Minzy took part in producing the single and wrote lyrics and composed music for it. The B-side ‘We Almost Were’ is an R&B track with a rock edge, with guitar played by JinJoo Lee of DNCE.
The original music video features choreography built around sign language. ‘I wanted to express music that everyone listens to together, not just with their ears but with their eyes and hearts as well,’ Minzy said, according to allkpop.
The release marked Minzy’s first solo comeback in four years and nine months. She debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009, and the group reunited for its 15th-anniversary ‘Welcome Back’ tour between October 2024 and April 2025.
No official statement accompanied the lyric video drop. With the English version now front and center, more listeners outside Korea may find their way to the song.
