Ahn Eun-Jin’s KBS drama ‘A Love Other Than Yours’ is under fire after a line in its October 18 episode used sexual harassment as a threat to intimidate a rival character, with viewers questioning whether the wording was appropriate for broadcast.
According to OSEN, episode 10 showed Lee Mi-Do (played by Ahn Eun-Jin) confronting a fellow lawyer to protect Han Tae-Seung (played by Lee Joo-An). After Han, released from detention, clashed with a colleague from the big law firm he recently quit, Mi-Do stepped in to defuse the situation.
The problem was the line Mi-Do delivered. She warned the man: “In one minute, I’ll sexually harass you. If you don’t get out of the way right now, no matter what happens, I’ll pull your pants down and humiliate you right here. If you come at me gritting your teeth, stripping a guy like you down to your underwear is nothing.” She added: “Really, I’m strong.”
After the broadcast, viewers online said wielding sexual harassment and forced disrobing as threats was too much. Critics argued that acts that could amount to sexual violence should not be used as intimidation material. Comments such as “sexual harassment is a crime no matter the gender” and “How could a line like this air?” appeared under the KBS drama’s official YouTube clip of the scene.
The report acknowledged the line was likely meant as an over-the-top warning to stop the provocation rather than an endorsement of harassment, noting a character’s dialogue should not automatically be read as the drama’s message. Still, it argued the direct use of the word “sexual harassment” and the explicit mention of forced disrobing were unnecessary — especially on a public broadcaster, where scripts and direction should face closer review.
