DinDin has shared one of the boldest pre-debut stories in K-hip-hop: in 2010, fresh off the plane from Canada, he walked up to Dynamic Duoโs agency and delivered his audition โ rapping into the intercom for a woman who turned out to be an accounting employee.
The anecdote came out on the October 9 episode of his YouTube channel โ๋๋์ ๋๋,โ which featured Dynamic Duoโs Choiza and Gaeko as guests, according to TV Report.
DinDin said he headed to the agency of the โhyungsโ whose music he had grown up on, naively picturing them sitting in the office with music playing. When a female staffer answered the intercom with โWho is it?โ, he told her he had come for an audition โ and when she said no audition was being held, he started rapping into the intercom on the spot.
She opened the door and explained that auditions were submitted on CD, but when he insisted he just wanted to rap, she told him to go ahead. He performed while she bopped her head along to the beat, and she asked him to leave a CD โ so he promised to burn one and come back.
Looking back, DinDin admitted the punchline: now that he is a celebrity himself, he realizes she was not a company executive at all, just an accounting employee who let him in out of sympathy.
DinDin is a solo singer-rapper who moved from Canada to Korea as a young man to pursue music. The full episode is available on the โ๋๋์ ๋๋โ YouTube channel.
