Ock Joo-hyun, singer-turned-musical star and member of first-generation K-pop group Fin.K.L, has moved to shut down speculation after a cryptic quote she shared on social media set off rumors that she was taking aim at someone. According to a report by Ilgan Sports on October 20, she posted the clarification after media reports picked up her earlier repost of a quote card reading โ์ด๋ค ๋ณด๋ฉด ํฐ ์ฐ๋ณด๋ค ํฐ ๋ณX์ ์ ๋๊ฒจ์ผ ํดโ โ a profanity-laced saying roughly meaning that in life, one must get past difficult people rather than difficult mountains.
She wrote: โ์ฐ์ต ๋๋๊ณ ๋์๋ณด๋ ์ ์ ํผ์จ ์คํ ๋ฆฌ๋ก ๊ธฐ์ฌ๊ฐ ๋ฌ๋ค๊ณ โ โ explaining that she had come out of practice to find articles about her earlier repost. ์๋ฌด ์ผ ์๋ ์ฌโ โ stressing there was no target and nothing had happened; she had simply reposted someone elseโs credited quote because it read like a maxim, and deleting it would only invite bigger misunderstandings.
Independent reports added color. TV Daily noted that she had paired the post with ATEEZโs title track โBADโ as background music, while Newsis recalled that Ock has made a habit of such eyebrow-raising posts this year: in July, she revisited her past defamation lawsuit against musical actor Kim Ho-young, calling its withdrawal her biggest regret, and later stirred professionalism concerns by saying of her next musical project, โ๊ณ์ฝํ ์ฐจ๊ธฐ์์ด ๊ฐ์์ ์๋๋ฐ ๊ทธ๊ฒ๋ ํ๊ธฐ ์ซ๋คโ โ that she didnโt feel like doing her contracted fall production, joking โ๋ ์์ฆ ์ฌ์ถ๊ธฐ์ธ๊ฐ.โ
Ock debuted with Fin.K.L, one of first-generation K-popโs definitive girl groups, and has since become one of Koreaโs leading musical actresses. The group announced in September that all four members โ Lee Hyori, Ock Joo-hyun, Lee Jin, and Sung Yu-ri โ would reunite under the โFin.K.L Re:Bloomโ project, marking their first full-group activity in 21 years since the 2005 digital single โForever Fin.K.L.โ The project is set to deliver new music, performances, a documentary, variety content, and an exhibition over the next two years. Separately, Ock is slated to take the stage in the musical โRebeccaโ at Chungmu Art Center from November 24, 2026 through March 14, 2027.
With the groupโs long-awaited reunion on the horizon, the starโs quick denial suggests she is keen to keep the focus on the comeback rather than online drama.
