G-Dragon and Yang Hyun-suk, the executive producer of YG Entertainment, have been officially cleared of copyright infringement charges, police announced on October 7.

According to K-POPIT, Seoul’s Mapo Police Station said it had decided in April not to refer the case to prosecutors, citing insufficient grounds for the allegations. The decision closes a complaint that had been under investigation for more than a year.

The case began in November 2024, when a composer identified only as A filed the complaint. He claimed that a song he wrote, titled “G-DRAGON,” was performed at G-Dragon’s solo concert in 2009 without his permission, and that it later appeared on the live album released the following year under the title “I’m 13 Years Old.”

YG Entertainment attributed the mix-up to a setlist error at the 2009 show. The company said two songs happened to share the title “G-Dragon” — one by the composer, the other by producer Perry — and were listed as “I’m 13 Years Old” and “G-Dragon.” The company said there was no unauthorized reproduction of the recording.

Police said they took statements from those involved and carried out two search-and-seizure operations at YG Entertainment’s headquarters as part of the investigation. After reviewing the evidence and statements, investigators concluded the allegations could not be substantiated and closed the case.
