i-dle member Minnie rang in her birthday on October 23 with a career first: the digital EP āi love you to the moon and back,ā her first album sung entirely in her native Thai, released at noon across music platforms.
The three-track EP, reported by Sports World, collects songs about different moments of love, with Minnie taking part in writing and composing every track. Title song āto the moon :)ā is a synth-pop love song about wanting to stay by a loved oneās side through every moment. āinsomniaā captures the loneliness of sleepless nights spent thinking of someone, while āą¹ąø”ąøąøąø²ąø§ (white clouds)ā sends longing to someone far away through white clouds. The music video co-stars Japanese model Hibiki Tomiyama, picturing an ordinary coupleās days against the moon waxing from crescent to full, with a closing shift to Minnieās perspective revealing she was the one who loved first.
Minnie described the title track as carrying a āwarm and honest messageā of loving someone enough to go to the moon and back. Writing lyrics in her mother tongue was unfamiliar territory: āI havenāt written many lyrics in Thai, so I worried about how to make them sound beautiful,ā she said, adding that she is proud the lines came out naturally. āIāve covered Thai songs many times, but this is the first time Iām sharing Thai songs I worked on myself,ā she said. āI hope it becomes a gift to Neverland who waited for the album.ā
The EP is her first solo release in about one year and nine months since her solo debut mini-album āHER.ā Where āHERā showed her various sides and colors, she said, this record unpacks her feelings about love more honestly. To celebrate, the āMINNIE āto the moon :) POP-UPā IN BANGKOKā runs October 23-25, closing with the āMINNIE SPECIAL LIVE IN BANGKOKā on October 25.
