IVE is coming back with a superhero twist. The girl group will release a new mini album ‘Looks Can Kill’ on October 26, with the title track arriving first on October 19.
The comeback marks their first new music in about eight months, following their second full-length album. The six-track album also includes ‘Mirror Mirror,’ ‘Snakeskin,’ ‘Crumbs,’ ‘Girls Girls Girls,’ and ‘Glow Motion.’
Member Rei is credited as a lyricist on the title track, while Gaeul and Liz also took part in songwriting. The album features collaborations with artists including Gaeko, Omega Sapien, Lil Cherry, and Zara Larsson.
IVE is rolling out the comeback under a ‘Girl Hero’ concept. A teaser video introduced the members as colorful hero characters: Wonyoung as ‘Bad Pink,’ Leeseo as ‘Spider Red,’ Rei as ‘Jin Yellow,’ Gaeul as ‘Wonder Green,’ Liz as ‘Super Blue,’ and Yujin as ‘Captain Purple,’ with masks covering part of their faces in a playful twist on classic hero imagery.
According to Starship Entertainment, ‘Girl Hero’ is a spin-off project following IVE’s earlier Cupid and magical-girl personas, building on the group’s long-running theme of self-confidence.
With the teaser already turning heads, October 19 will tell whether the hero concept lands with listeners. Either way, IVE is making sure their return is impossible to ignore.
