Kian84 is jokingly demanding his cut. After Soyeon’s solo track ‘I Will Quit My Job’ became a surprise hit, the webtoon artist told the singer he wants 90 percent of the settlement — a full reversal of his earlier claim that he didn’t need credit at all.
According to MK Sports, the exchange played out in a video titled ‘With Soyeon,’ uploaded to Kian84’s YouTube channel ‘Life84’ on October 9. Kian84 had visited Soyeon’s studio to work on the new album of girl group Usphere, after pitching them three album concepts he worried would go nowhere.
Talk turned to Soyeon’s solo song, and Kian84 admitted he had braced for a modest run, expecting it to hover around No. 80-90 on the Top 100 chart for a couple of days before fading. Soyeon, who says his narration carried about 90 percent of the track, rose from her seat and bowed to him at a full 90 degrees in thanks.
Asked how she could ever repay him, Kian84 didn’t miss a beat: ‘Just give me 90% of the settlement.’ A flustered Soyeon fired back, ‘I asked you first — don’t you need credit? — and you said you didn’t!’ He answered with a grin: ‘I changed my mind. It’s doing too well.’
Both treated the exchange as a joke, but it perfectly captured how surprised even the song’s own team was by its success — Kian84 never saw this hit coming.
