Kim Woo Seok is set to return to the stage in the original musical ‘UNDER MOONBOW,’ his first project since completing his mandatory military service. The production will open on December 12 at NOL Seokyung Square Scon Hall 2 in Seoul.
Blitzway Entertainment announced the casting on October 29, according to reports on the announcement. Kim Woo Seok was discharged on May 3 this year after serving in the military band since enlisting in November 2024. The musical is reported as his first musical challenge.
In ‘UNDER MOONBOW,’ Kim Woo Seok will play Choi In-ha, an undercover detective who infiltrates a drug cartel to uncover how the organization operates. As the investigation unfolds, In-ha becomes intricately entangled with Gil Mo-hyeon, the boss of the organization, and the story turns on the precarious line between truth and lies. The role is shared among four actors, with Yoon Ji Sung, Cha Seo Won and Lee Ju Seung also cast as Choi In-ha, while Lee Si Gang, Kang Chan, Lee Jin Hyuk and Kim Woo Jin are cast as Gil Mo-hyeon.
The production is an original musical built around a tense crime-investigation story and intense music. It is part of a strategic intellectual property project that expands a drama being developed by CJ ENM STUDIOS into a stage musical.
The run is scheduled from December 12, 2026 through February 28, 2027, and preview and first-round ticket sales will open on November 6 at 11 a.m. KST through NOL and Ticketlink.
Kim Woo Seok debuted in 2015 as a member of UP10TION under the stage name Wooshin, and rose to wider prominence through Mnet’s survival program ‘Produce X 101’ in 2019, going on to debut with project group X1. After X1, he continued as a solo artist, launching his solo career with his first mini album ‘1st Desire [Greed]’ on May 25, 2020, and built an acting filmography that includes ‘Twenty-Twenty,’ ‘Bulgasal: Immortal Souls,’ ‘Night Has Come’ and ‘Social Savvy Class 101.’ His enlistment in November 2024 paused that run, making December a closely watched return.
No direct quotation from the agency was included in the reports on the announcement. For now, the dates to watch are November 6, when ticket sales open, and December 12, when Kim Woo Seok steps on stage as Choi In-ha for the first time.
