Lee Hyori Gives Candid Marriage Advice to Young Couple on JTBC's 'Dating War' as WJSN's Dayeong Reveals Stable Girlfriend Side cover

Lee Hyori gave heartfelt marriage advice to a young couple on the October 19 episode of JTBC’s dating reality show “Dating War” (연애전쟁), telling them not to rush into marriage when they cannot control their emotions.

Episode 17 featured a pair of dancers in their 20s, a three-year age-gap couple living together. The older girlfriend had never thought about marriage until the younger boyfriend’s persistent “marriage flirting” gave her dreams and expectations. He changed his mind within four months of finishing his military service, leaving her shaken. The two had broken up once and reunited, and he admitted he had lost trust in her during his service.

Lee Hyori, paneling alongside Seo Jang-hoon, comforted them with empathy. “It’s not about who’s wrong, it’s just that they’re not a match,” she said, adding that anyone in their 20s can have a clumsy romance. She continued, “When emotions can’t be controlled, you shouldn’t marry,” and advised them not to think about marriage for at least five more years, but to date first and get to know each other through more honest conversations.

Hyori also spoke to the girlfriend, who kept lowering herself and apologizing: “In your 20s, when you meet someone, that person feels like your whole world. I understand the feeling of wanting to hold on even if it eats you up, and even wanting to marry them — but this doesn’t look like a healthy relationship.” Seo Jang-hoon was blunter, saying, “Isn’t this just him finding faults because he wants to break up?” The couple ultimately decided to set marriage aside and date more comfortably.

WJSN’s Dayeong also drew laughs with her own love-style confession. Asked whether she prefers long-term relationships, she said, “I think I’m the stable type.” Lee Hyori joked that Dayeong’s glamorous looks suggest otherwise: “You look like you’d change boyfriends every day.” Dayeong admitted she once worried she was boring and that boyfriends left her, adding she is now trying to become a playful “bad girl.”

When Seo Jang-hoon asked if she wanted to become like a young Lee Hyori, Dayeong said yes, revealing she copies her senior “from head to toe” — sleeveless tops, tank tops and hoop earrings. Hyori laughed and shot back, “But you can never surpass me.” Dayeong also quipped, “I’ve already divorced four times,” meaning past relationships where she thought about marriage before breaking up — then flustered upon realizing the actually-divorced Seo Jang-hoon sat right next to her. She apologized, Hyori warned her to “watch your words,” and Seo Jang-hoon smoothed it over: “If you apologize for that, I’d look weirder.”

“Dating War” airs every Monday at 9:50 p.m. KST on JTBC.
