Actress Lee Sun Bin opened up about her nine-year relationship with actor Lee Kwang Soo during the premiere of SBS’s new talk show “Master Hang-jun,” which aired on October 15.
According to Star News, Lee appeared on the show alongside actor Yoo Jae Myung, where host Jang Hang-jun expressed shock upon learning about the couple’s long-term romance. “Your boyfriend is Lee Kwang Soo? This is the first I’ve heard of it,” Jang said, prompting Lee to laugh: “Isn’t that a bit much? We’ve been dating for nine years!” Fellow guest Kim Poong, who had been reading the room, joked, “That’s right, I’d heard about it,” drawing laughter from the cast. Lee described the nine-year romance as eventful.
Yoo Jae Myung, who said he had seen the couple in person, shared that they look beautiful together, while Kim Poong added, “You two really suit each other,” to which Lee responded with a relaxed smile. Star News also noted that recent sightings of the pair enjoying a date along the Han River and traveling in Japan have been circulating online.
Lee also shared behind-the-scenes stories from early in her career. She revealed that she secretly auditioned three times for Mnet’s “I Can See Your Voice” without her agency’s knowledge. Her last formal audition before that had been for the drama “38 Task Force,” and she admitted she schemed her way onto the music show hoping to finally break out of rookie status. She explained that her company would only let her appear with a formal casting offer, so she asked the production staff to let her audition alone and contact her agency as if it were an official offer once she passed. The writers kept her secret until the end, she said, adding that her former agency staff probably still don’t know.
ChosunBiz separately reported that Lee ran away from home while in high school, packing money she had saved from part-time jobs and leaving a letter behind as she traveled from Cheonan to Seoul to chase her debut. She later went through an idol trainee process at a newly established agency, MK added.
Lee Sun Bin and Lee Kwang Soo first met on SBS’s “Running Man” in 2016, where Lee named him as her ideal type; the relationship later developed off screen and the pair publicly confirmed they were dating in 2018. During the taping, Song Eun Yi brought up that very “Running Man” ideal-type episode that started it all.
“Master Hang-jun,” a talk show built around Jang Hang-jun holding secret auditions to cast top actors for his autobiographical film, premiered on SBS at 9 p.m. on October 15, with Lee Sun Bin and Yoo Jae Myung as its first guests.
