Former ‘No.1 Sentai Gozyuger’ actress Maya Imamori has opened up about a painful chapter of her past, revealing in a YouTube interview that she became pregnant during her first year of high school and endured an abusive first relationship.
According to Koreaboo, Imamori shared that her first boyfriend — whom she dated as a high school freshman — turned out to be abusive. While discussing her hope of having children someday if she meets the right person, she revealed that she had gotten pregnant as a teenager. After her comments sparked discussion online, Imamori clarified on social media that she never said she had an abortion, adding that she could not share what happened afterward. An X post dated October 14 drew an outpouring of sympathy from fans.
The interview followed Imamori’s first YouTube video on October 8, in which she addressed her life since leaving the entertainment industry. As reported by TokyoReporter, the 20-year-old denied rumors that she had been financially supported through compensated dating with older men. ‘To be completely honest, I worked at a lounge for about four months,’ she said of a Japanese hostess establishment, explaining she came forward to shut down what she called malicious online speculation about her income. She added that she has since quit the job.
Imamori was scouted as a TikToker in October 2022 and went on to win the Miss Magazine 2023 Grand Prix before landing the role of Sumino Ichikawa — the franchise’s first female Black Ranger — in TV Asahi’s ‘No.1 Sentai Gozyuger,’ which premiered in February 2025. Her rising career came to an abrupt halt in November 2025, when her agency Seju terminated her contract over a ‘serious breach’ after she was reportedly caught drinking while underage; Japan’s legal drinking age is 20. Producers removed her from the series, citing the gravity of the situation, and recast the role with Kohaku Shida from episode 40 onward.
After a period out of the spotlight, Imamori opened new social media accounts in March 2026 and said she was studying for a real estate license, with the exam set for October. Her candid disclosures have drawn widespread sympathy, with many fans voicing support for the 20-year-old as she rebuilds her life.
