MC Mong is taking a break from TikTok. The singer announced during his October 20 live broadcast that he will pause his TikTok live streams for three to six months, with his final broadcast set for October 31 — insisting the decision has nothing to do with the controversies surrounding him.
“I will stop TikTok for a while,” MC Mong told viewers, thanking them for “watching and supporting me so much over the past 10 months.” He added, “My style has always been to disappear without a sound.” The break will last a minimum of three months and up to six, and he stressed the pause is unrelated to his recent disputes. Rather than going quiet entirely, he plans to move to YouTube Live, where he will host so-called “Excel broadcasts” — multi-guest live shows built around viewer donations.
The announcement follows a turbulent year for the rapper-turned-broadcaster, who began his TikTok lives last December. In May, he named singer-actor Kim Min-jong on air while raising illegal gambling allegations connected to an uncle of Cha Ga-won, chairman of Piac Group and co-founder of MC Mong’s former agency One Hundred. Kim denied the claims and filed a defamation suit; MC Mong publicly apologized on an October 5 TikTok live, saying he had met Kim in person and cleared up the misunderstanding, after which Kim withdrew the suit, saying he felt someone who admitted fault and apologized deserved another chance. MC Mong had also addressed separate disputes involving Cha Ga-won and allegations about his home during his broadcasts.
MC Mong is also set to meet fans offline, with free concerts scheduled across the country in November, including stops in Jeonju, Songdo, Ulsan, Gwangju, Cheongju, Gumi, and Busan. His last TikTok live airs October 31. The November free concerts will be his first major fan meetings since the Kim Min-jong dispute was resolved, offering him a chance to reset the narrative around his broadcasts.
