Oh Jung-se has added another trophy to his shelf. The actor was named Best Supporting Actor at the 46th Korean Film Critics Association Awards for his scene-stealing performance in the comedy film “Wild Thing,” the association announced on October 19.
According to Spotv News, the winners were finalized after member voting and a final deliberation session held on October 16, covering Korean films released between October 2025 and September 2026. Oh’s win marks his first Best Supporting Actor honor from the critics’ association.
In “Wild Thing,” a comedy about a long-disbanded three-member co-ed dance group called Triangle that reunites for one last, reckless shot at a comeback 20 years later, Oh plays Choi Sung-gon, the group’s ill-fated “ballad prince.” Spotv News reported that despite his limited screen time, Oh’s commanding presence all but monopolized the film’s buzz. The in-film song “Niga Joaha,” which his character performs in his signature innocent look, climbed as high as No. 2 on the weekly charts and sparked a viral dance-challenge craze — a full-blown “Niga Joaha” syndrome.
The outlet noted that the win carries extra weight because comedic performances are routinely overlooked at critics’ awards, making the critics’ praise for Oh’s work a statement in itself. No public comment from the actor was available at the time of publication.
“Possible Love,” produced by Pine House Film, took Best Film, with its star Jeon Do-yeon winning Best Actress. Na Hong-jin’s “Hope” was the evening’s biggest winner with three awards: Best Director, Best Actor for Jo In-sung, and Best Cinematography for Hong Kyung-pyo. Ye Su-jung won Best Supporting Actress for “People and Meat,” while Byun Sung-hyun and Lee Jin-sung took Best Screenplay for “Good News,” according to the full winner list published by WorldArtTimes. This year’s edition also introduced OTT series categories, with Shin Hye-sun (“Lady Dua”), Hyun Bin (“Made in Korea”), Jang Young-nam (“Donggung”), and Noh Jae-won (“Made in Korea”) honored as the first recipients.
Oh is in the middle of a packed run. He has begun filming the movie “Typhoon,” and Spotv News noted he appeared in several films this year, including “Climax,” “Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness,” and “50 Percent,” with “Law of the Line” and “Sunshine Baseball Team” lined up for next year.
The 46th Korean Film Critics Association Awards ceremony takes place on November 4 at 6 p.m. at Cinematheque KOFA Hall 1 of the Korean Film Archive, hosted by actors Cho Han-cheul and Jang Sun.
