Actress Roh Jeong-eui has nothing but praise for her “Myeondo” co-star Kasamatsu Sho — including a confession that the Japanese actor sometimes outdoes her in Korean.
Speaking at a press conference for the 31st Busan International Film Festival competition film, Roh shared her thoughts on acting opposite Kasamatsu. According to the MBC Entertainment report, she told the gathered press: “Kasamatsu Sho sometimes speaks Korean better than I do.”
The press conference was held on the morning of October 9 at BIFF Hill, inside the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan. Director Kim Jung-hoon joined Roh and Kasamatsu on stage, and the three took questions from reporters about the film.
The remark drew laughs, and it hints at how closely the two leads had to communicate during the shoot. Kasamatsu, a Japanese actor taking on a role in a Korean-language production, evidently put serious work into his Korean.
The 31st Busan International Film Festival is running from October 6 through October 15 across venues including the Centum City Cinema Center and Nampo-dong BIFF Square, with “Myeondo” screening as one of this year’s competition titles.
More from the festival — including the full Q&A video — is expected to surface as BIFF week continues.
