Comedian Shin Gi-ru has spoken out against a viral rumor claiming she dined and dashed at a host bar. Her message: she’s furious that anyone believes it.
According to a TenAsia report, the remarks came on the October 12 upload from YouTube channel Bbo TV (비보티비), an episode titled “Three Comedians Together? | 개 세 모 2 | EP.01.” Shin explained that a story had spread online saying she visited a host bar, with commenters dubbing her the “Daejeon host-bar runaway woman” (대전 호빠 도주녀).
The mistaken identity came down to an outfit, she said. The woman in the viral clip wore a pink dress just like one Shin wears at home, leading some to assume it was her.
Since then, the DMs have not stopped. She quoted one message she received: “Even though you earn money, how can you run off without paying?”
Then came her pushback: “This might be a joke, but what infuriates me is that there are people who believe it.” She made clear the story is entirely false.
The studio crew could not hold back their laughter after looking up the rumor, prompting Shin to ask, “Why are you laughing?” Her co-stars teased that the pose and walk in the clip looked similar. The mood later turned lighthearted, with Shin joking about her weight and her podcast.
No official statement was issued beyond her on-air remarks. For now, Shin’s stance is simple: the rumor is fake, and the people believing it are the real problem.
