CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa is returning to television romance after three years. Lifetime unveiled the episode 1 trailer for its new Saturday-Sunday drama “밑도 끝도 없이, 너다” (“Oh! My Guard”) on October 16, eight days before the series premieres on October 24.
The trailer opens on a film set where Uhm Tae Bong (Jung Yong Hwa), a beloved top star celebrated as a melodrama master, abruptly stops a kiss scene with co-star Song Na-ri (Park Yu-na) just as their lips are about to meet. The frustrated director demands to know why he refuses to shoot a good scene, while even his own manager wonders aloud whether he has ever kissed anyone at all. Meanwhile, Oh Hae Ra (Hong Seung Hee), a chaebol heiress living alone in a grand mansion, spends her days watching Tae Bong’s drama “The Crown Prince’s Bodyguard,” imagining herself as its heroine and wishing something exciting would happen to her. When news breaks that Tae Bong was injured during filming, she rushes out of the house — and an accident leaves her convinced she is Cha Hong Doo, the drama’s female lead, and that Tae Bong is its male lead, Han Jung-woo.
The series premieres October 24 at 10:50 p.m. KST on Lifetime, with TVING and LG Channels carrying it in Korea and Viu plus Japanese streaming platforms handling it overseas.
The production team said the series will follow, from the very first episode, how Tae Bong’s secret collides with Hae Ra’s first steps into the outside world, and asked viewers to watch how the two grow into a real romance.
The role is a deliberately ironic one for Jung Yong Hwa: a star famous for romance acting who freezes whenever a kiss scene is called. Hong Seung Hee plays the sheltered heiress whose delusion kick-starts the fantasy, while Park Yu-na appears as Song Na-ri, the co-star caught in the aborted kiss scene. The series is co-directed by Yoon Jong-ho of “Lovely Runner” fame. An earlier teaser released on October 14 had already introduced the drama’s central joke — a self-proclaimed romance master with a strict no-kissing rule.
With the premiere just over a week away, the new trailer leans into the drama’s central fantasy: what happens when the woman who believes she stepped out of a drama finally meets the star she has only ever watched on screen.
