PLAVE has released a special video for “The Answer Is Yes,” the upbeat pop b-side from the virtual group’s fifth mini album “HYPERDRIVE,” keeping the EP’s blockbuster rollout going into its second week.
The clip was uploaded to PLAVE’s official YouTube channel on October 22 and also shared through the group’s Weverse media page, where it appears under the group’s “HYPERDRIVE” promotions tagged #TheAnswerIsYes and #PLAVE_TheAnswerIsYes. Per the group’s official description, it is the special video for the track from the fifth mini album.
Music press covering the album has described “The Answer Is Yes” as an upbeat pop song carrying “a clear, positive message to weary modern individuals.” On the five-track EP, it sits between the guitar-driven rock of “Pureun Haneure Danbi” and the closing R&B-pop of “Rewind,” which was composed with hitmaker KENZIE and her KZLAB team.
“HYPERDRIVE” arrived digitally on October 12 at 6 PM KST, with physical editions following on October 13, according to coverage from allkpop. By midnight on October 13, all five tracks on the EP — “Star Trace,” “Kkun,” “Pureun Haneure Danbi,” “The Answer Is Yes,” and “Rewind” — had entered the top five on Melon, with agency VLAST confirming the same sweep on Genie and Bugs.
The title track “Star Trace” marked PLAVE’s first EDM-based dance-pop single, built around layered synthesizers and a driving beat, and was first previewed during the group’s first world tour. The members participated in writing and producing the album: “Star Trace” carries lyrics from Rob Grimaldi, a co-writer of BTS’ “Butter,” while the members wrote the lyrics for closing track “Rewind.” The release runs a racing concept, with the members split into rival teams YATAZ and MADBAEZ across its promotional visuals.
The “HYPERDRIVE” era follows PLAVE’s “ASTERUM” trilogy and the “Caligo” series, with the group shifting its gaze to look back on the path it has traveled — a perspective the music reflects in what coverage has called a deeper, freer sound. Although PLAVE performs through virtual avatars, real performers create the music, choreography, and movements in real time through VLAST’s technology, a formula that has made the group one of K-pop’s most consistent chart forces this year.
With the special video, PLAVE extends the “HYPERDRIVE” era past the album’s second week. Fans can watch the video now on the group’s official YouTube channel.
