The J-Pop group WEST. has disbanded — and alleged new details suggest the members’ relationships may have fractured long before the announcement.
According to Koreaboo, the disbandment was announced in late September via a statement and a video posted on the group’s fan cafe. The group had already lost two members the month before, setting the stage for the final decision.
Some attributed the breakup to rumors surrounding the members and their relationships with women. But newly alleged information claims the tension ran deeper: the members’ relationships with each other may have already begun dissolving before the disbandment news broke.
One detail drawing scrutiny: in January 2025 it was reported that member Akito Kiriyama would marry former women’s volleyball player Maiko Kano. An industry insider recently said the wedding took place in July 2025 as a small, private affair — and that none of the WEST. members were mentioned by name.
No official statement addressing the alleged discord claims was available.
Whether the silence was a symptom or a cause of the split, WEST.’s disbandment closes the chapter on one of the scene’s most talked-about breakups this year.
