Yim Si Wan Talks Building a Secretive Chaebol Heir for tvN's 'Love in Disguise' Ahead of October 19 Premiere cover

Yim Si Wan is getting deep into character for his next leading role, and he says the secret to playing Yoon Yi Jun is learning how to hide everything.

In a new interview shared by Soompi, the actor discussed his preparation for tvN’s upcoming romance thriller “Love in Disguise.” The drama follows an arrogant chaebol heir who becomes a murder suspect and the former special forces officer who goes undercover as his personal secretary to investigate him. Yim Si Wan stars as Yoon Yi Jun, the third-generation heir to Korea’s top conglomerate, opposite Seol In Ah as Kang Jae Hee, the detective posing as his secretary while pretending to be a man.

Yim Si Wan described Yoon Yi Jun as a character full of secrets who changes a great deal after meeting Kang Jae Hee. He said the role drew him in because it lets him show many different sides of himself, and that viewers will enjoy watching the character transform.

On his approach, he focused on how Yoon Yi Jun never reveals his inner thoughts. Surrounded by enemies, the character hides his true self for protection, so Yim Si Wan built layered emotions into the performance — someone viewers cannot tell is being genuine or deceptive.

He called the thriller-romance blend the drama’s greatest strength, teasing the question of when Kang Jae Hee starts falling for Yoon Yi Jun.

“Love in Disguise” premieres October 19 at 8:50 p.m. KST, with a latest teaser already out for fans to preview.
