Actress Yoon Jin-yi was forced to abandon her car and finish a family trip by bus after smoke began pouring from the vehicle’s hood, according to Korean entertainment reports on October 27. The incident happened during a trip to Jecheon with her family, and was documented in a video posted that day on her YouTube channel, Jinjja Yoon Jin-yi, titled in translation as “Emergency situation. Will this trip end safely?”
According to Sports Chosun, the trouble began as soon as the family arrived at their accommodation. Yoon Jin-yi noticed smoke coming from the car and told viewers she thought she would need to visit an auto repair shop. She called a repair shop about the smoke from the hood, but because it was a holiday, it was difficult to find a shop that was open.
A second report, from ChosunBiz, gives the same sequence of events. Yoon Jin-yi had planned the trip at short notice to enjoy the end of autumn. The car trouble arrived at the very start of what was meant to be a restful break, and she told her husband that moving the car would be dangerous, leaving them with no choice but to leave it where it was.
The family stayed on at the accommodation despite the disruption, and the trip continued without the car.
The following day, Yoon Jin-yi headed to the bus terminal with her family to return home. She described packing up as exhausting, and noted that the bus ride back to Seoul would take about two hours, with the children unlikely to sit still for that long.
Neither report gave a cause for the smoke. Rather than risk driving a car that was visibly smoking, Yoon Jin-yi left it behind and kept the family trip going at the accommodation in the meantime.
The episode shows how quickly a holiday plan can unravel around a single mechanical failure, especially on a public holiday when repair options are limited. No official statement beyond the video and the reports was available.
