A2O LITE's 'NEON' Debuts at No. 8 on Billboard Global 200 Two Weeks After Debut cover

A2O LITE has scored its first Billboard top 10s. The nine-member group’s debut single “NEON” debuts at No. 8 on the Billboard Global 200 and vaults to No. 3 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, according to the charts unveiled on October 27 and dated October 31.

The result lands exactly two weeks after “NEON” was released on October 13. NewsEn reported the chart positions on October 27, and Billboard’s own chart report confirms the same numbers: “NEON” debuts at No. 8 on the Global 200 and jumps from No. 107 to No. 3 on the Global Excl. U.S. survey, giving A2O LITE its first top 10 on both charts.

The numbers behind the jump are substantial for a debut single. According to Luminate data cited by both reports, “NEON” drew 25.9 million streams worldwide and sold 12,000 copies in the tracking week of October 16 to 22. Billboard’s two global charts rank songs using official streaming and sales data from more than 200 territories around the world; the Global 200 includes the United States, while the Global Excl. U.S. chart measures performance everywhere else.

Billboard’s chart report puts “NEON” in busy company at the top of the global surveys. The same chart week was led by Tate McRae’s “Housewife,” which debuted at No. 1 on both global charts with 55.9 million streams worldwide, while Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan’s “Expectations” rocketed to No. 2 on the Global 200 and Zach Bryan’s “Lies,” featuring Lana Del Rey, entered at No. 5. A2O LITE’s debut at No. 8 therefore came in a week crowded with major Western releases, not a quiet chart frame.

The Billboard breakthrough caps a debut run that has moved unusually fast at home as well. “NEON” reached No. 1 on Melon’s TOP100 chart just 29 hours after its release, and NewsEn reports that the song held the top spot for 13 consecutive days from October 15 to October 27. The group then collected four music show wins, starting with SBS Life’s “The Show” on October 20 and continuing through MBC M’s “Show Champion,” Mnet’s “M Countdown,” and SBS’s “Inkigayo.”

That timeline helps explain why this week’s Billboard jump matters more than a single chart position. In its first chart week, dated October 24, “NEON” had entered the Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 107 and did not appear on the Global 200 at all. The second-week leap to No. 3 outside the United States and a top 10 debut on the combined global chart shows the song’s audience widening well beyond its first-week listeners, rather than fading after the debut-week buzz.

A2O LITE is the first K-pop idol group launched by A2O Entertainment, the company founded in 2024 by Lee Soo-man, the founder and former chief producer of SM Entertainment. The nine members are Young, Oa, Ayune, Aijing, Himeki, Rada, Xili, Vora, and Merci, a multinational lineup drawn from Korea, China, Japan, and Thailand. The group has been presented under the banner of “zalpha pop,” music aimed at Generation Z and Generation Alpha listeners.

“NEON” itself is built around a heavy bass line and the hook “Neon and beyond,” which NewsEn describes as carrying the members’ determination not to stay in a shining present moment. The song’s choreography has also kept circulating through dance cover challenges by senior K-pop artists, a stream of exposure that has kept the debut single visible between music show appearances and chart updates.

No official statement from A2O Entertainment about the Billboard rankings was available in the reports. The next test for “NEON” is staying power: whether a debut single that climbed this fast can hold a place on the global charts once the debut-week streaming surge settles, and what follow-up material the group announces to build on it.
