Lee Soo-man’s new boy group A2O SOUL is officially launching its debut album ‘SUPERSTAR’ on November 9 at 6 p.m., marking the start of full-scale promotions.
According to Star News, the A2O Entertainment-produced act first introduced itself on October 13 with the pre-release single of the same name, and returns with a full debut album just about a month later, signaling an aggressive debut schedule.
The five-track album carries the pre-release single and title track ‘SUPERSTAR’ alongside double title track ‘Dancing in the Dark,’ built around what the group calls NEW SYNTHWAVE, a genre A2O SOUL says defines its own musical identity. Lee Soo-man set the album’s musical direction himself and hand-picked world-class composers he had never worked with before to chase a new synergy, with producer Yoo Young-jin, HAAN — a co-writer on The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s ‘STAY’ — and GENT!, who has worked with Drake and Doja Cat, all contributing to the pre-release single.
The pre-release ‘SUPERSTAR’ already showed global momentum: it climbed to No. 18 on YouTube’s trending music chart and reached No. 2 on QQ Music’s new song chart, No. 6 on its popular song chart, and No. 4 on the MV global chart. Together with labelmate A2O LITE’s ‘NEON,’ the two A2O acts held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on QQ Music’s new song chart, a rare joint chart takeover for debut artists.
No additional official statement was issued beyond the announcement, but with its large lineup, self-defined genre, and international songwriting team, A2O SOUL’s November 9 debut is positioned as one of the most closely watched boy group launches of the year.
