Actress Son Na-eun is mourning the loss of her mother.
Her agency, J.Wide Company, confirmed to South Korea’s Star News on October 17 that Son’s mother had passed away. The actress is currently keeping vigil at the funeral hall alongside her younger sister, professional golfer Son Sae-eun.
No further details about the cause of death or funeral arrangements were disclosed, and the agency declined to elaborate beyond the initial confirmation.
Son debuted in April 2011 as a member of the girl group Apink and spent more than a decade as one of the group’s vocalists before leaving the team in 2022 to focus on acting. She has since built a steady acting career with roles in dramas including Childless Comfort, Ghost Doctor, Agency, and The Tale of Lady Ok.
Her most recent role was as undercover special agent Jung Sang-a in the SBS drama Kim Bu-jang, which concluded its run in June.
Fans and fellow artists have been sharing messages of condolence online as news of the bereavement spread through Korean entertainment media.
