Korean thriller “Assassins” has crossed 3.05 million admissions and still sits atop the national box office, riding a textbook sleeper-hit wave as its audience ratings climb week after week.
According to OSEN, the film passed the 3-million mark just 20 days after release and has earned a place in the 2026 Korean film box office Top 5, holding No. 1 through its fourth week.
The Korean Film Council’s integrated network puts cumulative admissions at 3,057,418 as of 7 a.m. on October 14. The film’s second week drew 668,578 viewers, while the third week surged to 759,135 — a rare week-over-week increase that defies the usual box office decay curve.
Verified viewers have rewarded the staying power: Naver’s audience rating now stands at 8.9, and CGV’s Golden Egg index has climbed to 92 percent, driven by positive word of mouth and repeat viewings.
Directed by Heo Jin-ho and starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho, “Assassins” traces the conspiracy and hidden powers behind the August 15, 1974 assassination attempt that shook South Korea. Critics and audiences have praised its solid craftsmanship and the cast’s acting synergy.
With holiday viewing from Chuseok through Hangeul Day still carrying momentum into the film’s long run, “Assassins” shows no sign of slowing down.
