Cha Tae-hyun Advises So Yi-hyun to Treat Daughter Like 'Someone Else's Kid' During Puberty on 'My Little Old Boy' cover

Cha Tae-hyun has a brutally simple trick for surviving a child’s puberty — pretend the kid isn’t yours. The actor’s tongue-in-cheek parenting advice came up when So Yi-hyun appeared on the October 11 episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy.

According to a Newsen report published October 12, hosts Shin Dong-yup and Seo Jang-hoon brought up So Yi-hyun’s two daughters, now 12 and 10. So Yi-hyun said her eldest, a fifth grader, is beginning to show signs of puberty.

“She was such a gentle kid who was always smiling,” So Yi-hyun said. “But lately, when I tell her to do something, she looks at me from underneath. It’s getting a little dangerous.”

That’s when she shared what Cha Tae-hyun once told her and her husband: think of your children as someone else’s kids — if they were just visiting from another house, you’d get far less angry. Shin Dong-yup agreed with the logic but warned that a fifth grader’s puberty is “just getting started.”

So Yi-hyun, 42, married actor In Gyo-jin in 2014, and the couple have two daughters. No official statement was available.
