Film director Kim Han-min, whose 2014 epic “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” remains the highest-grossing Korean film of all time, will marry pansori master Lee So-young on November 15, according to film industry sources cited by Korean media on October 19.
The wedding ceremony is set for 6 p.m. on November 15 at a hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Herald Muse reported. The couple will skip the conventional wedding format in favor of a free-style party, according to the report. Lee, 42, is 15 years the director’s junior.
Kim, 57, debuted in 2007 with “Paradise Murdered” and became a box-office heavyweight with 2011’s “War of the Arrows,” which drew 7.48 million moviegoers. “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” attracted 17.61 million viewers, setting an all-time Korean box-office record that still stands. He later completed his Yi Sun-shin trilogy with “Hansan: Rising Dragon” and “Noryang: Deadly Sea.”
He is currently in post-production on the action period film “The Sword of Godumakhan,” set in the aftermath of Goguryeo’s fall, starring Park Bo-gum, Joo Won, Jung Jae-young, Lee Sun-bin and Kim Hyeong-seo.
