A fraudster who appeared on television claiming to be 38 years older than his real age has been exposed on E Channel’s “Brave Detectives 5.”
According to ěŠ¤íŹ¬ě¸ ę˛˝í–Ąâ€™s report on the episode, the man went on TV sharing “longevity secrets” as an elderly person. Investigators later found he had damaged his own fingerprints, obtained a fake resident registration card under the false identity, used forged lottery tickets to claim prize money, and illegally received welfare benefits. He was punished again for repeating similar offenses.
The episode also revisited major cases, including a building murder solved in just 16 minutes and 50 seconds. CCTV showed the suspect — identified as Mr. Kim — riding the elevator and later wiping it down; he claimed to have left work at 10 p.m., but phone records and his cohabitant’s testimony placed him at the scene. He was caught 14 days later and ultimately sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The show also reexamined escapee Shin Chang-won, who evaded capture for 907 days, and the capture of Jung Pil-ho after a 10-day stakeout. Dindin reacted to the murder case by saying, “I’m so angry.” Former detective Park Mi-ok noted that criminals may change names or appearances, but their habits and routines are hard to hide.
“Brave Detectives 5” airs every Friday at 9:50 p.m. and streams on Netflix, TVING, and Wave.
