Harisu has opened up about a shocking encounter with a reporter from about 20 years ago, revealing that she was once asked about her sex life with her husband during her own marriage announcement press conference.
According to a MyDaily report published on October 11, the singer shared the story in a video released on October 10 on the YouTube channel Studio830. Harisu said she confronted the reporter on the spot.
“The truly rude remark was when I announced my marriage — a reporter at that announcement asked me, ‘So, how’s your sex life with your husband?’” Harisu recalled. She added that the question was unthinkable even between close friends, let alone from a journalist at a formal press event.
She did not hold back at the time. “I wondered what was in that person’s head — how someone could live their life and say such filthy things,” she said, adding that she told the reporter sharply to “get a grip.”
Harisu also recalled the prejudice she endured as one of Korea’s first-generation transgender entertainers. She said people demanded she “prove” she was a woman — requesting sex or telling her to undress — and that she lost numerous roles and contracts to discrimination. After debuting in 2001 with the album “Temptation,” she worked as a singer, actress, and broadcaster, marrying singer Miki Jung in 2007 and divorcing in 2017.
Harisu said she and her ex-husband remain on good terms and support each other, though she keeps contact limited out of respect for his new family. For now, she says she has no plans to remarry.
