Former baseball star Hwang Jae Gyun is finally saying goodbye to the long hair he grew for 10 months — and his longtime hairstylist couldn’t be more relieved.
The retirement ceremony prep will be revealed on episode 419 of MBC’s “The Manager” (Omniscient Interfering View), airing October 10 at 11:10 PM. The ceremony was previously postponed once due to extreme heat, and Hwang was seen checking the weather the moment he woke up, worried the rain falling outside might cancel it again.
The hairstylist, who has handled Hwang’s hair for a decade and also works with BTS, Teo Yoo, Joo Sang Wook, and Kim Kang Woo, joked, “I never tell anyone Hwang Jae Gyun is my client.” He called Hwang’s long hair “my worst career,” drawing laughs before cutting and styling a fresh look that earned positive reactions from everyone around.
The long locks had earned Hwang nicknames like “Chuno Hwang,” “veteran erotic film actor,” and “Samson,” but he admitted he was sorry to cut them while those around him couldn’t hide their delight.
The episode also features a special guest flying in from the United States — an American agent friend of 15 years who handled Hwang’s MLB negotiations, during which six teams reportedly made offers. They will revisit his historic moment as the first Korean to hit a home run in an MLB debut game.
