ILLIT’s fifth mini album, “BREAK EVEN,” has reached No. 3 on Oricon’s daily album ranking in Japan, as its title track gains ground in South Korea and abroad.
According to OSEN, Oricon’s chart dated October 27 placed “BREAK EVEN” at No. 3 on the daily album ranking immediately after its release. The October 29 report said the result showed impact on major album charts in both countries.
The title track, “You’re Under Arrest,” is also moving on Japanese charts. OSEN reported that the song, built around a bright whistle sound, entered the upper ranks of LINE MUSIC and AWA MUSIC’s real-time rising charts and reached No. 8 on Oricon’s daily digital single ranking dated October 27.
Global streaming adds to that momentum. “You’re Under Arrest” placed at No. 141 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart dated October 27 and entered Apple Music’s Today’s Top 100: Global chart at No. 67 for the first time. OSEN noted earlier song “It’s Me,” six months on that Apple Music chart, was performing alongside the new release.
In South Korea, the title track entered Melon’s Top 100 at No. 72 soon after release and climbed to No. 7 by October 28. The music video passed 10 million views on YouTube on October 29, after ranking No. 1 in South Korea, No. 2 in the United States and No. 7 globally on YouTube’s daily popular music video chart on October 26.
The chart run follows the comeback rollout. “BREAK EVEN” was released on October 26 and sold 382,991 copies on its first day, topping the Hanteo daily album chart dated October 26. Interest in the new material is also lifting earlier work: streams of “It’s Me” rose 10.4 percent from the previous week, placing it at No. 8 on Oricon’s weekly streaming rising ranking dated October 26, covering October 12 to 18. On October 28, the group released two YouTube promotional videos playing on the arrest concept, including a public service announcement parody.
No separate BELIFT LAB statement was included in the OSEN report; figures cited are chart data it reported. The run is still in its opening week, so weekly rankings will test how far “BREAK EVEN” travels beyond its daily-chart debut.
