IVE surprised fans on October 12, dropping a challenge video for their upcoming title track “Looks Can Kill” across the group’s official TikTok, Instagram and YouTube channels.
According to Sports Kyunghyang, the clip marks the first reveal of both part of the new song’s audio and its point choreography, heating up the countdown to the comeback. The title track will be pre-released on October 19, with the mini album of the same name arriving on October 26.
The video is set against the backdrop of IVE’s “Hero Academy.” Members Ahn Yujin, Gaeul and Jang Wonyoung perform a gun-shooting hand gesture and long, extended arm movements that give the group’s signature hero performance a punchy new energy.
The preview audio revealed the song’s addictive hook, repeating over an upbeat beat with the fierce lines “dancing like I kill them with the rhythm” and “Looks can kill, we’re so lethal.” No official statement was available beyond the promotional rollout.
The song opens with an intense synth pad rhythm before heavy bass, drums and electronic sounds take over, with lyrics co-written by Seo Ji-eum, Lil Cherry and member Rei. The tracklist also confirmed songwriting participation from Gaeul and Liz.
With less than two weeks until the full mini album drops, the surprise challenge gives fans the clearest taste yet of what IVE has prepared for this comeback.
