KeyEast, the agency representing Kim Hee-Ae, Cha Seung-Won, and Chae Jung-An, has confirmed that deepfake videos targeting its artists were created and spread online, and it has now filed a criminal complaint. Legal proceedings are officially underway.
According to a report by Sports Kyunghyang on October 13, the agency issued an official statement announcing the action. The company said it had identified recent cases of deepfake production and distribution involving its artists and had gathered the related evidence.
“We have secured the relevant materials and submitted a complaint to the investigative authorities, and legal proceedings are currently in progress,” the agency said in the statement. It emphasized that it regards the matter as a serious violation of the artists’ dignity and honor, going beyond ordinary malicious posts.
KeyEast also said it is strengthening monitoring of major domestic and international online communities and social media platforms. It pledged to respond to confirmed rights violations with no leniency or settlements, and to continue collecting evidence for further legal measures.
The agency added that fan reports serve as important material for its response and asked fans to report offending posts or accounts through its official reporting channels.
KeyEast’s roster also includes Lee Joo-Bin, Park Myung-Hoon, Lee Ki-Taek, and Park Yu-Na. The agency said protecting the honor and rights of its artists remains its top priority and that it will keep taking active measures against illegal and malicious acts.
