Musical actor Kim Ho-young and the production team behind his YouTube channel “Too Much Kim Ho-young” have issued an official statement vowing strong legal action against people who reposted footage of teen gugak students without permission and left malicious comments about them.
According to TV Daily, which reported the statement on October 10, the controversy centers on the channel’s Jamsil cafe episode, in which students majoring in Korean traditional music (gugak) appeared in a bright and cheerful interview.
After the broadcast, some netizens reposted the interview video without authorization and left malicious comments targeting the minor performers. The team said it has confirmed those circumstances and is collecting evidence to file reports with the platforms and pursue legal action against the offenders.
The statement also carried an apology to the students and their parents, saying the team is “truly sorry” for what happened. The interview segment is being cut from the video, and the video will stay private until the deletion is complete. “The performers are precious youths who must be protected,” the statement read, urging anyone who reposted the video or the comments to delete them immediately.
The team pledged to take every necessary measure to protect the students’ rights and honor, and to make sure no further harm reaches them.
