MBC’s ‘Rookie Director Kim Yeon-kyung 2’ premiered at No. 1 in both ratings and buzz on October 11.
According to Ten Asia, a Good Data Fundex report released October 13 showed the program topping the TV-OTT Sunday non-drama buzz ranking for the second week of October.
Nielsen Korea data showed the premiere scored a 3.0% rating in the 2054 demographic, the highest among all variety shows that day. The Seoul metropolitan household rating reached 5.0%, surpassing the season 1 premiere.
The broadcast peaked at 6.6% when a world No. 1 youth player from Japan’s Shujitsu High School challenged the Pilseung Wonderdogs.
The series follows Kim Yeon-kyung and the Pilseung Wonderdogs as they attempt to found a professional eighth team, with the first episode covering open tryouts and the inauguration ceremony.
A rematch with Shujitsu High School, which beat the team in season 1, is planned for this season. Episode 2 airs October 18 at 9:10 p.m.
