LACHICA member Shimizu revealed she started her dance shoe business with just 300,000 won in capital — and once lived with cockroaches while packing orders by hand at home.
The choreographer opened up about her CEO life on MBC’s “Point of Omniscient Interfere,” where cameras followed her balancing choreography duties with running her brand, in the show’s report for TV리포트. A fellow choreographer noted Shimizu handles the brand’s design and marketing herself.
The business has grown into a serious operation: annual revenue reached 600 million won as of 2022, and its shoes have appeared on idol concert stages — BLACKPINK’s Lisa wore Shimizu’s platform knee-high boots for her June performance at the World Cup opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
On her early days, Shimizu said: “The starting capital was 300,000 won. I tried to avoid going into the red. Since I had no money, I packed everything at home. I lived with cockroaches.” Now in her third year as LACHICA’s performance director, she added that she pays dancers promptly because performers drive stage quality: “I want to pay them in a way no one feels slighted.”
Junior dancers describe her as a workaholic who replies to messages day and night. “Point of Omniscient Interfere” airs on MBC every Saturday at 11:10 p.m.
