Lee Hye-seong Shares Her Honest Views on Marriage and Vows to Keep Working Until She Dies cover

Broadcaster Lee Hye-seong is getting candid about what marriage means to her — and she made one thing clear: her career isn’t going anywhere.

According to OSEN, Lee uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel on October 13, titled “Who Should I Marry to Be Happy? | Yang Gui-ja’s ‘Mosun,’” in which she used the novel as a springboard to share her personal thoughts on love, marriage, and happiness.

In the video, Lee posed a question many single viewers have asked themselves: is marrying someone you love the path to happiness, or is choosing a stable partner the wiser decision? She noted that marriage allows for many interpretations, adding that watching married couples often makes people wonder who they should marry — and that “no one knows until they enter the wedding hall.”

Lee put the strongest emphasis on financial independence. “These days women build wealth through their own efforts,” she said. “Even if I marry, I want to keep doing economic activities until I die and live while developing myself.” Married or not, she dreams of a life where she keeps working and growing.

Lee is a former KBS announcer who drew major public attention for her open relationship with broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo, whom she dated publicly before the two split in 2022.

Closing out the video, Lee said life places many choices before us and its direction changes with each one — and admitted the novel left her seriously wondering whether marriage makes people happy or unhappy.
