Singer Lee Mu-jin is set to return with new music for the first time in about a year and a half, releasing his self-composed digital single “Night Stage” on November 9, his agency Question Mark has confirmed.
The single arrives at 6 p.m. KST on November 9 through major music streaming platforms, and its music video will be unveiled at the same time. Lee wrote both the lyrics and the music himself, continuing the singer-songwriter path that has shaped his career since his debut.
The comeback has taken shape over the past week in a steady rollout. Question Mark announced the single on November 3, unveiling its cover image the same day, showing Lee strolling through the night streets. Concept photos followed on November 5, and the music video teaser arrived on November 6, building a drumbeat toward the November 9 release. A mood film for the single has also been posted on Lee’s official YouTube channel.
The teaser, posted on Lee’s official social media channels at 6 p.m. on November 6, revealed that actor Lee Dong-hwi will star in the video. In it, Lee Dong-hwi walks alone down a dark street at night before coming face to face with a burst of flames. He then runs around freely, like a child, before the mood shifts as he stares into the fire, lost in thought, moving through several emotions in quick succession despite the clip’s short length.
The casting gives the video a cinematic quality, the very word the original report used to describe the collaboration between the singer and the actor. The concept photos released a day earlier set the same tone: Lee in a brown shirt against night streets, a tunnel and streetlights, presenting an ordinary evening walk as something cinematic.
“Night Stage” captures the freedom and sense of release that can be found on an ordinary walk home, rendered in Lee’s own sensibility and rhythm. The message at its center is that a familiar stretch of night road can become a stage of one’s own, reframing a small, everyday moment as something worth standing in.
“Lee Mu-jin wrote the lyrics and composed the music himself for this track and plans to further expand his unique musical world,” his agency said, according to edaily.
The release is Lee’s first new song since “Bam Sae,” the digital single he put out last May, making the gap roughly 18 months. It is also his first release since joining Question Mark, his new label, giving the comeback added significance as the opening chapter of a new phase in his career.
Lee debuted in 2018 and rose to prominence through JTBC’s “Sing Again” in 2020, building a reputation as a streaming favorite. Edaily described him as a “powerhouse in the music streaming scene,” a standing built on self-written songs that have connected with listeners well beyond the competition stage.
The single’s release will be followed by a nationwide concert tour, “Winter Greetings: From Winter.” The tour is staged as a celebration of the new single, extending the comeback beyond the November 9 release and into the end of the year, with three cities on the schedule so far. The tour opens on November 28 and 29 at the Aram Theater in Goyang Aram Nuri, then heads to the Grand Hall at Kyungpook National University in Daegu on December 19 and 20, and wraps up the year at the Grand Theater at Busan Citizens’ Hall on December 25 and 26. With the audio and music video for “Night Stage” landing on November 9, the tour will give fans their first chance to hear the new song performed live.
