Lim Chang-jung has revealed the unlikely birth story of his hit “That Time Again” — it was never written for him. On MBN’s “Fill in the Blank,” aired October 12, he told viewers composer Kim Hyung-seok originally wrote it for Solid.

According to the original report, Lim opened the broadcast with a performance of the song, then shared its backstory after the stage ended.

Lim recalled singing “Beautiful Farewell” at a karaoke room when Kim, who happened to be in the next room, opened the door and walked in. That chance encounter is how “That Time Again” landed with him instead.

“‘That Time Again’ is a song composer Kim Hyung-seok made to give to Solid,” Lim said. “I was singing ‘Beautiful Farewell’ in a karaoke room when composer Kim Hyung-seok, who was in the next room, opened the door and came in. That’s how I came to sing ‘That Time Again.’”

Lim also reunited with an audience member who had once visited his film set as an extra, greeting them with “Long time no see.” Asked by MC Park Hak-gi whether he watches YouTubers imitating his voice, he admitted he does — and jokingly warned them: “I won’t let you off if I catch you.”

Lim closed the show with his signature “A Glass of Soju,” showing off the vocal depth that has carried his 30-year career. He released the new single “Tap Tap Tap” in July, a semi-trot track blending dance, EDM and trot.
