"Non-Summit" Star Daniel Lindemann Welcomes First Daughter Kim Ria, Shares Newborn Photo cover

German television personality Daniel Lindemann has become a father for the first time. The former JTBC ‘Non-Summit’ panelist announced on October 30 that his daughter, Kim Ria, was born the day before, sharing the news himself on social media.

According to OSEN, Lindemann posted a photo of his newborn daughter alongside the announcement. The picture shows the baby fast asleep in a hospital bassinet, wrapped in a cozy blanket, with a full head of black hair and delicate features.

Lindemann shared the announcement in both Korean and German. In his German-language post, he introduced his daughter as Lia Sophie, writing that she was born healthy the previous day and that both mother and daughter are doing well. He also set Stevie Wonder’s ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ as the background music for the newborn photo.

In his Korean post, Lindemann wrote: ‘Yesterday, Kim Ria was born.’ He added: ‘Both the mother and the baby are healthy. Thank you to everyone who sent us their blessings.’ He thanked supporters again in his German post for thinking of his family.

The birth is Lindemann’s first child since he married a Korean woman outside the entertainment industry in December 2023. He announced his wife’s pregnancy in June; Sports Chosun reported that his wife had prepared a surprise event, and when he spotted a banner in their entryway reading ‘Congratulations on becoming a dad,’ he was so surprised that he sank to the floor before embracing his wife in tears.

Lindemann also shared at the time that he had dreamed the night before learning of the pregnancy that he was going home holding a cute hamster, and that the baby’s prenatal nickname was Tori. The birth caps a month of milestones: on October 20, he announced that he had been granted permanent residency in South Korea, posting a photo of his resident card, just nine days before his daughter’s arrival.

Lindemann first became known in South Korea through JTBC’s ‘Non-Summit’ in 2014, the debate-style variety show featuring foreign panelists discussing Korean social issues in fluent Korean. He has since appeared on a range of variety programs, including ‘Where Is My Friend’s Home?’ and ‘Talk Pawon 25 O’Clock,’ while continuing to pursue music as a pianist.

For now, Lindemann’s announcement itself is the news: a first child, a healthy mother and baby, and a family thanking well-wishers for their blessings.
