Oh Yoon-ah Opens up About Remarried Life and Husband's Bond with Son Min on 'Fun-Staurant' Return cover

Actress Oh Yoon-ah has opened up about her remarried life on KBS 2TV’s “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant,” returning to the show after three years for its seventh-anniversary “home” special airing on Thursday, October 29. According to Star News, the episode centers on the home she now shares with her husband and her son Min, and her changed daily life since her remarriage.

Back in the studio after a long absence, Oh told the cast she had missed the show so much that being there felt like coming back to her parents’ home, according to Herald Business and Sports Chosun. She then carefully shared that she had gotten married, and the cast showered her with congratulations. In a pre-release clip reported by ChosunBiz, she put it simply: “I met a good person and have made a fresh start.”

Oh also explained why she decided to marry again. Her husband is four years younger than her, and the two called each other “yeobo” — a Korean term of endearment roughly meaning “honey” — even while they were dating. She said she had not planned to marry again, but her husband had been kind to Min since they were just friends.

The most affecting moment she recounted came when her husband took Min to a public bathhouse, just the two of them. It was Min’s first such experience, and Oh said she believed her husband did it because he treats Min as his own son. She thanked him for stepping into the practical side of parenting, saying that because Min is a boy, there were things she found hard to teach him alone, from brushing his teeth to washing his hair.

That history is why the return resonates. Oh married a non-celebrity in 2007 and had her son Min, but the couple divorced in 2015, and she has raised Min, who has a developmental disability, on her own since then. She announced her remarriage to a non-celebrity via her YouTube channel last July, about eleven years after her divorce. Since then, Min has grown more independent, now 20 and a member of a para swimming team, getting himself ready without his mother’s help.

The “Fun-Staurant” episode airs at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, marking Oh’s first appearance on the program in three years and her first time telling the story of her remarried life on television.
