Park Seo Jin is trading the mic for a magic wand — with magician Choi Hyun Woo as his teacher.
According to MHN Sports, it all aired on the October 10 broadcast of KBS2’s “Salimnam 2” (“Men Who Do Housework Season 2”) as Park prepared for a fan sports festival expected to draw around 2,700 fans.
The idea, dubbed “magic trot,” came from Park’s younger sister, Park Hyo Jung. Determined to give fans an unforgettable event, Park studied magic videos on his own and then reached out to Choi, whom he already knew personally, for hands-on lessons. The two drew laughs for their strikingly similar hairstyles, and the siblings were stunned to learn that Choi is 48.
The lesson covered everything from close-up tricks usable on a blind date to crowd-pleasing stage magic — including the nerve-wracking guillotine trick with a sausage getting chopped and an illusion where a sword pierces the body. Park rehearsed with flashy action moves added in, but failed both of his practice attempts. Watching on, Choi diagnosed the problem: the siblings simply did not trust each other yet, and he stressed the importance of teamwork.
All this is happening during a packed October for Park. Between regional events, a half marathon, and a folk painting exhibition, his monthly travel distance is set to reach roughly 9,000 kilometers.
Whether the “magic trot” stage succeeds at the real sports festival remains to be seen. “Salimnam 2” airs every Saturday at 10:35 p.m. KST.
