SEVENTEEN's Jeonghan and Joshua Top Japan's Oricon Weekly Album Chart with 'DREAMSCAPE' cover

SEVENTEEN members Jeonghan and Joshua have topped Japan’s Oricon weekly album ranking with their debut mini album as a unit, ‘DREAMSCAPE’, continuing a first week that has already set records for a K-pop subunit release.

According to Oricon’s announcement on October 27, ‘DREAMSCAPE’ claimed No. 1 on the weekly album ranking dated November 2, selling approximately 66,000 copies in Japan during the tracking period of October 19 to 25. The weekly crown followed two straight days at No. 1 on Oricon’s daily album ranking, on October 20 and 21, completing a daily-and-weekly sweep in their debut week.

The Japanese chart-topper caps a first week defined by big numbers. Pledis Entertainment said ‘DREAMSCAPE’ sold 804,949 copies in its first week, topping Hanteo Chart’s weekly album ranking in South Korea. More than 650,000 of those copies were sold on release day alone, setting a new record for first-day sales by a K-pop unit album. The duo had already passed 800,000 first-week sales when the weekly Hanteo result was announced on October 26.

The album’s reach has extended well beyond Korea and Japan. ‘DREAMSCAPE’ entered at No. 6 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums chart, topped Japan’s LINE MUSIC real-time Top 100 Albums chart and the iTunes Japan Top Albums chart, and ranked No. 2 on China’s QQ Music weekly digital best-selling albums chart, where it passed 750,000 yuan in cumulative sales and earned triple gold certification. The title track, ‘12 o’clock’, also drew strong early support, charting on domestic and international charts immediately after release.

Jeonghan and Joshua released ‘DREAMSCAPE’ on October 19 as their first mini album as a SEVENTEEN unit, pairing the release with music show promotions and a run of fan events. The debut’s commercial performance has put the new duo’s drawing power on display in three major markets at once.

The pair will take the album on the road next. Their ‘JEONGHAN X JOSHUA JOURNEY INTO [DREAMING]’ tour begins October 30 at Inspire Arena in Incheon and runs through six cities, with their November 21 and 22 shows at Belluna Dome in Saitama, Japan, set to be screened in theaters in markets including South Korea, the United States, Singapore, and Mexico. With a weekly chart-topper in Japan already secured, the tour will test whether the unit’s debut momentum carries onto the stage.
