Shin Jang-mi Announces New Digital Single 'Hahoe – Where Longing Stays' for October 17 Release cover

Trot singer Shin Jang-mi, affectionately nicknamed the “0.1-second get-up unnie” after her viral Immortal Songs 2 moment, is officially making her comeback.

According to Sports Chosun, Shin will release a new digital single titled ‘Hahoe (河回) – Where Longing Stays’ (그리움이 머무는 곳) at noon on October 17.

The track draws on the scenery of Hahoe Village, the riverside town wrapped in the winding Nakdong River. It expresses the sorrowful love and longing let flow over the water in a grand, lyrical sound — the wistful tone of the daegeum and sweeping strings unfolding together “like a single ink-wash painting.” Shin’s voice, described as starting restrained and exploding toward the chorus, is called the song’s killing point.

Ahead of the release, Shin unveiled a new profile photo showing off an elegant, refined aura — what the report calls a 180-degree transformation — raising expectations for a bold concept unlike anything she has shown before.

Shin recently turned heads at the 33rd Korea Culture & Entertainment Awards, taking the EMN Rising Star prize in the adult-pop category. On KBS2’s ‘Immortal Songs 2,’ she bounced straight back up after slipping mid-performance and nailed a trembling high note with her whole body shaking — earning the nicknames “mic earthquake” and “0.1-second get-up unnie.”

With a striking new look and a concept described as a dramatic departure, fans won’t have long to wait: ‘Hahoe – Where Longing Stays’ drops on October 17 at noon.
